I graduated as ‘Student of the Year’ from the state approved Association of Texas Midwives’ Training Program in 2004, and passed the NARM examination for national accreditation through MANA as a Certified Professional Midwife(CPM). My four year training included apprenticeship with both Alisa Voss CPM and Melanie VanAken CPM.

I have also had the wonderful opportunity of working with many other midwives in and around Austin, participating in ATM as the regional representative, and continuing my education through yearly workshops and classes.
The low rate of intervention needed in midwife-attended natural birth is well known and documented. When a condition does exist which precludes a woman or baby from an out-of-hospital birth or when more technology or medical attention is needed, midwives provide timely information and referral or transfer.
