Labor Support (doula)

In my experience, a family’s memories and concerns about birth tend to focus on similar topics:

1) The safety of Mom and Baby

2) Whether parents feel informed about choices and decisions

3) The support received during the birth and postpartum time
Studies show that the presence of professional labor support (or a doula < doo’ la>) has a positive influence on birth including a decreased rate of interventions and shorter labor time. Doulas are not intended to replace the role of the father or other main support people. Instead they strive to enhance that involvement while assisting and informing the entire family.
